The Public Sector’s Path to Modern Customer Identity and Access ManagementOver a decade ago, the federal government recognized the need for greater security through identity management by instituting the Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) architecture. FICAM comprises the tools, policies, and systems that allow an organization to manage, monitor, and secure access to protected resources. Identity and Access Management has become critical to the government’s success in delivering services to the public. In 2019, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget updated the FICAM policy to require agencies to create their own Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) teams.
