When it comes to organic marketing, you probably spend most of your working hours trying to devise a plan that will get your website to rank in Google. But do you know how long it actually takes for an average website to appear on the first page of Google search results?
According to an Ahrefs study, several factors can have an influence on how quickly a new page will rank in Google. When the Ahrefs team took 2 million random keywords and pulled data on the top 10 ranking pages for each word, they calculated that the average top 10 ranking page is over 2 years old, while an average website that ranks at #1 is about 3 years old.
As for the number of pages at each ranking position, the study showed that the Google search results pages are dominated by “old” websites: just 22% of pages that currently rank in the top 10 were found to have been created within 1 year.
While there is no definite answer to the question ‘how long does it take to rank in Google’, the comprehensive study carried out by Ahrefs produced some interesting findings. To learn more about this useful study, take a look at the infographic below by The Website Group.
