Why You Need to Change Your SEO Strategy

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or marketing manager, we all know how good marketing strategies play a vital role in captivating prospective customers and clinging to the current ones. While some are still risking the expensive radio, newspaper, and TV ads with no assurance of reaching the proper target audience, the smarter ones (including you, I hope) have switched their marketing campaigns to SEO or “organic results” because it simply makes the grade.

When you’re dealing with algorithms, binary languages, complex programs, and whatnot; you have to be clever enough to outwit Google’s constant algorithm updates. You have to be always on the ball and watch out for these tricky SEO enhancements that can either make or break your rankings.

SEO marketing campaigns have had a steady stride since 2010; never once faltering. The only ones that falter, however, are the marketers who don’t keep up with the ever-changing trend. Tweaking your marketing approach a bit can help you boost rankings. Here are the top 5 tips on why and how you can change your SEO strategies to keep up.

1. Mobile-friendly algorithms are here

Everyone uses their mobile phones for everything! This is a fact and there’s no time like the present to make all your desktop-suited websites searchable and viewable in mobile phones. In case you haven’t noticed, when you search for the same thing on your phone and your laptop, Google selects lesser sets of results than on a desktop. The mobile-first indexing algorithm was introduced in 2016 wherein Google prioritizes sites with a mobile version that copies the real site.

2. Shifting to HTTPS is more secure

People sometimes cringe at the idea of change, especially when you’ve been so accustomed to using something for years like, say, HTTP. But it was announced early in 2018 that the more secure version, HTTPS should be adapted and would be one of the categories used for ranking at the top. Search engines label some HTTP sites as “not secure” (you can go check if you want), and if you’re managing an ecommerce business which deals with a lot of online transactions, I don’t think avid online shoppers would want to give out their personal information when they see the dreaded “not secure” in the upper left corner.

3. People want to see video content

More search results have embedded videos in them. I personally like watching videos if I want to get more information about a product or service. Some people are visual learners and there’s no denying that it’s just more engaging learning from videos. I’m putting my money on more rankings through video content in the year 2020. Why? Well, just because of the obvious reason that Google bought YouTube in November 2006! So since YouTube is one of Google’s subsidiaries, that means it’s getting more priority, in my book.

4. Optimize voice search features

With the emergence of technological advancements being handed down to users on a silver platter, there’s no doubt that these users will always be looking for more convenient and easy ways to go about online researching – voice search included. Make sure to optimize a voice search feature on your content so you can be sure your page will rank even when consumers are searching for it while driving or whatever it is they’re doing that makes typing seem too much of an effort, opting for voice search instead. You can incorporate some conversational keywords that are voice-search-friendly but make sure your page also has the proper speed to go with it. Google cuts out sites that take ages to load and simply aren’t capable of voice search.

5. Fast and suitable user experience is still the name of the game

One reason why SEO campaigns fail is the users didn’t quite get a good user experience. Some users are always on the move and if they need information, they need it ASAP! Provide snippets of concise and valuable information on your content. At least when users breeze through your page, they can collect pieces of information which are visibly displayed and easily accessible. One trick is to include as much relevant information in your FAQs so Google can scan through them as well.

Keeping up with SEO updates doesn’t have to involve drastic changes, just focus on the quality of the content and convenience for the users, and the power of SEO will take it from there.
